Uncertainty over Archbishop’s mortal remains returning home

Shillong, October 17(NNN): The Shillong Archdiocese on Thursday said that nothing was clear yet on when the mortal remains of the Archbishop of Shillong (L) Rev Dominic Jala will arrive in Shillong.

Earlier, there were reports which stated that the mortal remains would be reaching Shillong by October 15 or 16.
According to Fr Jimmy Marngar, the Chancellor of Shillong Archdiocese, formalities are completed and the body was undergoing embalming. Fr Marngar said that as of now, the Church authorities here were having difficulty in getting flight tickets since the flight from San Francisco to Delhi was fully booked. The Chancellor of Shillong Archdiocese, informed that they were looking at other alternate routes to transport the mortal remains of the Archbishop back into India. “So depending on the availability of flight tickets we will be able to confirm the exact date and time of arrival of the mortal remains of the Archbishop,” Fr Margnar said.

The Chancellor of Shillong Archdiocese also informed that Shillong MP, Vincent H Pala and three priests are in the USA to do the needful and accompany the body to India. Meanwhile, Fr John Madur, in a statement, said that the Church understands the anguish, the concern and the longing of the people to know the exact date and time of the arrival of the mortal remains of the Archbishop. “I assure you, we are doing everything possible to bring back the body of the Archbishop as soon as possible,” Fr Madur said.
