7th Session of 14th NLA from today

“Prohibition of Satanic Worship in Nagaland” and “Unemployment in Nagaland” are two issues poised to take centre stage as the Seventh Session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) begins on September 2.
The former will feature under Matters of Urgent Public Importance (Rule 54), raised by MLA Kuzholuzo Nienu. Meanwhile, a separate notice for discussion under Rule 50 concerning unemployment in the State has been raised by Advisor Hekani Jakhalu, supported by Advisors Wangpang Konyak and Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome.
According to the List of Business for September 2 issued by the NLA Secretariat, the first day of the session will include obituary references for the late Governor La. Ganesan and former Assembly member Nungsangyapang.
The session will also cover reports on assent to bills, and Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio is scheduled to introduce The Nagaland State Finance Commission Bill, 2025, and The Nagaland Flood Plain Zoning Bill, 2025. He will further present a copy of The Nagaland Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Rules, 2024, as amended by the 2022 rules.
Other reports set for tabling include Nagaland Khadi & Village Industries Board Audit Report (2020–21 to 2022–23) by Minister K. G. Kenye; The Internal Working Rules of the Committee on Environment and Climate Change; The Internal Working Rules of the Committee on Urban Local Bodies and Nagaland Village Councils (vis-à-vis The Nagaland Municipal Act, 2023, and The Nagaland Village and Tribal Councils Act, 1978, as amended up to 2022).
The presentation of various Committee reports is also scheduled on the first day.
According to an earlier official notice, after the first day on September 2, the Seventh Session of the 14th NLA will observe a one-day recess and conclude on September 4.
