MALIGAON, AUGUST 11 (MExN): Several newly introduced Vande Bharat Sleeper and Amrit Bharat train services under Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) have recorded high occupancy during the first seven months of 2026, according to an official release.
NFR stated that 14 pairs of trains were introduced between January and July 2026, comprising one pair of Vande Bharat Sleeper, eight pairs of Amrit Bharat trains, three pairs of long-distance Mail/Express trains and two pairs of Mail/Express Intercity trains.
As per the statement, the Vande Bharat Sleeper service between Kamakhya and Howrah recorded occupancy of 103% on the Kamakhya–Howrah service (27576) and 126% on the Howrah–Kamakhya service (27575).
Among the Amrit Bharat services, New Jalpaiguri–Tiruchchirappalli (20609) recorded 159% occupancy, while the return service (20610) recorded 150%. The New Jalpaiguri–Nagercoil service (20603) recorded 173% occupancy, with the return service (20604) recording 160%.
Other newly introduced services also recorded occupancy above 100%, including Kamakhya–Rohtak (15671) at 138%, Gomti Nagar–Dibrugarh (15950) at 144%, SMVT Bengaluru–Alipurduar Jn. (16597) at 151%, and Charlapalli–Kamakhya (15673) at 135%.
NFR said the occupancy figures indicate strong demand for the services and improved rail connectivity between the Northeast and other parts of the country.
