‘Vote Chori’ Campaign: NPCC collects over 2 lakh signatures in Nagaland

The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on Saturday said it has collected over 2.08 lakh signatures across the state as part of a “Vote Chori” signature campaign led by the AICC to highlight electoral discrepancies.

The highest number of signatures was collected from Kohima district (72,000), followed by Dimapur (50,000), Mon (20,000), Tuensang (12,439), Zunheboto (12,401), Mokokchung (10,000), Wokha (6,400), Peren (6,500), Phek (4,524), Longleng (5,038), Kiphire (5,000) and Noklak (3,120), the NPCC said.

NPCC President S Supongmeren Jamir and Working President Khriedi Theunuo disclosed this during a press conference at Congress Bhavan, Kohima.

The NPCC stated that the initiative is part of a nationwide movement led by the AICC to highlight electoral discrepancies and to call for transparency and accountability in the democratic process.

Jamir said the NPCC has successfully completed the signature campaign against “Vote Chori” in Nagaland as per the directive of the All India Congress Committee (AICC).

“This will be the beginning of our campaign for 2028 elections,” he said, adding that the Congress will advocate for clean elections. “We will fight for clean elections, and we will see that good governance prevails,” Jamir said.

Theunuo said that that NPPC will submit the appended signature to AICC, which will further submit to President of India. “We are making the onward submission to AICC, then the AICC will further take to President of India, he said.
