Er. Chonrhonthung Ezung, Executive Engineer (Electrical), Wokha with WDFA officials and players of Vungoju FC who won the 10th Lotha Football Championship
WOKHA, FEBRUARY 7 (MExN): Vungoju FC won the 10th Lotha Football Championship by beating Tsungiki FC 5-2 in the final held today.
Vungoju FC dominated the first half by scoring a quick succession of goals through Hatsabemo in the 17th minute, and Yiben in the 28th and 34th minute. A1 Tsungiki FC managed to pull one back before the break with a goal from Sinlo who scored through a penalty in the 39th minute.
However, Vungoju FC’s win was assured as two more goals from Hatsabemo in the 58th and 65th minutes put the match beyond their opponents reach.
The champions were awarded the running trophy, along with medals, certificates and a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, while the runners-up pocketed a cash prize of Rs 60,000.
Earlier in the day, Friends Club Wokha Village defeated Niro Range Sports Association to win the third spot of the championship.
Meanwhile, before the final, a short closing ceremony programme was conducted where Er. Chonrhonthung Ezung, executive engineer (electrical) Wokha as special guest spoke on the spirit of true sportsmanship.
The championship was organized by the Wokha District Football Association (WDFA).
