What is Socialism?

People often talk about socialism and communism and its difference. And common people have no idea about actual understanding of the term ‘Socialism’. According to Dr. Austin L.Sorenson, let us see what socialism is all about.
Socialism is the fiction that everyone can feed off everyone else. The daughter of Stalin remarked that people who want to change democracy for socialism are blind. A wit has exclaimed socialism will steal you blind so that it can give you contact lenses. Could it be that the threat of Socialism is greater than the threat of Communism?
The statement has been made that “Socialism is just soft Communism, Communism is hard Socialism.” Lenin declared, striving for Socialism we are convinced that it will turn into Communism. Kruschev explained that society cannot lap onto Communism from Capitalism without going through a socialist stage of development.
Socialism is the first stage to Communism and thus you are now in this first stage if you advocate socialism. Our political leaders have been wrongly influenced by what is known as Fabian Socialism. Fabian Socialism began in ancient Rome and was copied by the British socialists. Shortly after Marx died, the Fabian Society was founded in 1884. It was named after a Roman General Quintus Fabius Maximus ‘Contactor, the Delayer’. The motto of the Fabian Society was, for the right moment you must strike hard or your waiting will be fruitless.
Great Britain has been the leading exponent of Fabian Socialism. Today, this once ‘great nation’ is a welfare state and bankrupt. It is no longer great. The decay of the ancient Roman Embire was long and gradual. The British have decided to commit suicide much quicker. Should we abolish capitalistic system for socialism?
Historically, Socialism has an unbroken record of failures. Whenever it becomes total, it brings grinding poverty and crushing tyranny. American system of business, on the other hand, has produced more prosperity, more widely distributed than any other economic system has ever produced. It has created more schools, more universities, art galleries, theatres, orchestras, publishing houses, churches, hospitals, beautiful parks, magnificent recreational facilities, more comfortable dwellings, means of travels and means of communications than have ever been enjoyed anywhere else.
Socialism may be described under various titles. There is a scientific and radical socialism. There is yet another which it the latest and thoroughly startling – it is known as Christian Socialism. This new cult of socialism might be called ‘ministerial socialism’. It has been contented by some liberal theologians that Jesus Christ was a socialist. Was Christ a socialist? Was He a reformer? He never was a socialist nor a reformer. Not once did He intimate that His teaching, followed out through the coming centuries, would cause the elimination of poverty, decrease of the poor. Instead, He said that so long as the church should continue in the world, poverty should remain. It was the plain denial that He expected the church to work, testify or legislate against poverty. It was the plain denial that He was a socialist, a plain denial that the church would be the Advocate of Socialism.
