Wokha, May 21 (MExN): The Department of School Education, Wokha, on Thursday organised a one-day orientation programme for surveyors and voluntary teachers under the ULLAS (Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society) Nav Bharat Saaksharata Karyakram at Tiyi Hall in Wokha.
Delivering the keynote address, K Mhathung Tsanglao, Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, stressed the importance of literacy and inclusiveness in education.
He thanked the surveyors and voluntary teachers for their commitment and highlighted their role in educating the community.
Tsanglao also said education remains a key driver in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
The welcome address was delivered by Raphael Zubonthung, District Education Officer, Wokha.
Training sessions during the programme included presentations on ULLAS implementation by Daisy Tsopoe, the ULLAS primer by Thungchobeni M Humtsoe, and the ULLAS App and survey procedures by Subenthung Kithan.
A short film titled A New Classmate was also screened during the event.
The concluding remarks were delivered by K Chandemo Patton, ADC, Samagra Shiksha, Wokha.
Launched in 2023, the ULLAS initiative under the Nav Bharat Saaksharata Karyakram aims to promote lifelong learning, improve adult literacy and empower communities through inclusive education.
The programme targets surveyors, voluntary teachers and learners across society with the objective of building awareness, skills and opportunities for sustainable educational growth.
