Working Group to rationalise all govt posts; August 7 deadline set

Kohima, July 25 (MExN): The Nagaland government has set up a Working Group to carry out a comprehensive rationalisation of manpower across all state departments, directorates, subordinate offices, boards, corporations and public sector undertakings, as part of its fiscal consolidation drive.

According to a notification issued on July 15, the Working Group on Comprehensive Rationalisation of Manpower has been mandated to assess the functional justification for all existing posts and recommend a rationalised staffing structure.

“The exercise is founded upon a validated, post-wise establishment database, and the submissions now called for from Departments and Government establishments will constitute the primary record on which the findings and recommendations of the Working Group are to rest,” it stated.

All departments and government establishments have been directed to furnish their post-wise data in the prescribed proforma, duly signed by the Head of Department and countersigned by the Administrative Head, by August 7, 2026. Official communications have already been sent via email.

The state government has warned that failure to submit the data within the stipulated time will result in the Working Group proceeding on the basis of available establishment and payroll records, and the position will be reflected accordingly in its final report to the government.

Each department is required to nominate an officer not below the rank of Under Secretary or Deputy Director as Nodal Officer for the exercise, with the particulars to be intimated to the Working Group Secretariat within three days of the publication of the communique.

The prescribed proforma and clarifications can be obtained from the Working Group Secretariat, Finance Department, Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima, via email at manpowerslwg@gmail.com or by telephone at +91-7085937495.
