Dimapur, October 4 (MExN): MGM College organised a workshop on “Academic Writing and AI Tools for Research” on October 3 to strengthen research skills, academic writing competencies and awareness of emerging artificial intelligence tools among faculty members.
The programme was chaired by Lopilo P Yanthan, Head of the Department of Commerce. Ahikali I Jakha, Head of the Department of English, led the invocation, while Dr R K Behera, Principal of MGM College, delivered the welcome address.
The resource session was conducted by Dr Wapanginla Ao, Dean of Management Studies and IQAC Coordinator, C-Edge College, who shared insights from her academic and research experience.
She provided an overview of the research process, covering key stages from identifying a research problem and reviewing literature to developing a research paper and preparing it for publication.
Dr Ao encouraged faculty members to take the initiative to begin writing and engage consistently in research. She emphasised that confidence in academic writing develops through continuous learning, regular practice, perseverance and a willingness to improve.
She also shared reflections from her PhD journey, highlighting the importance of selecting an appropriate research area, maintaining focus and remaining committed throughout the doctoral process.
The session provided faculty members with practical guidance and motivation to develop a stronger research culture within the institution.
The workshop also highlighted the growing relevance of artificial intelligence tools in academic research and writing, encouraging their responsible and purposeful use to enhance scholarly work.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Jemsungba Walling, IQAC Coordinator, followed by the benediction by Mhonlumo T Tsopoe, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics.
The workshop was part of MGM College's continuing efforts to promote academic excellence, faculty development, research engagement and a culture of continuous learning.
