Workshop on ‘journalistic way of writing’ held at SJU

Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at St Joseph University, Chümoukedima organised a workshop on ‘Journalistic way of Writing’.

CHÜMOUKEDIMA, September 24 (MExN):  The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at St Joseph University (SJU), Chümoukedima organised a workshop on ‘Journalistic way of Writing’.  The event, held at the university’s seminar hall on September 23, saw participation from 38 students and faculty members.

Dr Moalemba Jamir, Associate Editor of The Morung Express, was the resource person. In his lecture, he elaborated on the craft and development of ‘news,’ emphasising the importance of clarity, accuracy, brevity, objectivity and responsibilities of a journalist.

Dr Jamir also highlighted the difference between academic writing, literary writing and journalistic writing.

The session was followed by an interactive Q&A session where students raised queries on challenges faced by print media in the digital age and the ethical dilemmas encountered in the journalists.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr N Nishikanta Singh, Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. A vote of thanks was delivered by Hemam Windy Chanu, Assistant Professor of the department.
