The Western Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Küqhakulu (WSBAK) organised a Bible Festival at Zakenim Hall, Akuvuto, Thahekhu Village, on November 7, under the theme “Alhou tsa ye Aküvü,” which loosely translates to “God’s Word is light.”
The festival aimed to encourage spiritual growth and strengthen shared faith and unity among the WSBAK community. The speaker for the event was Director of the Sümi Baptist Convention (SBC), Rev Dr Khehovi Shohe.

Addressing the gathering, Rev Dr Shohe said that God had given people “His Word so that we may walk in His light and follow His guidance.” He said that reading the Bible reveals that even people of great faith had weaknesses and made mistakes. This, he noted, serves as a reminder that no human being is perfect and that everyone needs God's guidance, mercy and grace.
He further emphasised that salvation does not come simply through reading the Bible but through faith in Jesus Christ.
Citing the example of the Titanic, which was considered a magnificent and powerful ship but struck an iceberg and sank during its maiden voyage, he said it served as a reminder that even when people feel confident about their direction, one wrong course can lead to disaster.

Similarly, he said that ignoring God's word and choosing one's own direction could lead people astray, underscoring the need for God's word to guide their journey through life.
The festival featured various competitions, including an original song competition, art competition for adults, on-the-spot art competition for children, Bible quiz, Bible cosplay and Bible Mekua Leshe. Ten areas under WSBAK participated in the competitions.
