Dimapur, December 20 (MExN): The Western Sümi Hoho on Saturday expressed serious concern over the recent incident at Aoyimkum village, where six youths were apprehended by a faction on allegations of running a fake call centre.
A press update from the media cell stated that while unlawful activities, if any, must not be condoned, it strongly maintained that no group or individual should take the law into their own hands, adding that the matter should be thoroughly investigated by the competent authorities, and those found guilty must be punished strictly as per the law.
Furthermore, the Hoho emphasised that the issue should be resolved with understanding, dialogue, and reconciliation among our brothers, upholding the spirit of harmony and mutual respect that binds our society together.
Naga Council Dimapur (NCD): The NCD stated that the act of gun firing in a peaceful living area of civilians with the intention of creating fear and threat in their minds is no less than terrorism.
At the same time, it has extended its unequivocal support to Dimapur Ao Youth Organization (DAYO) in its demanding for justice, while appealing to all Naga armed groups to abstain from violence, intimation and other forms of creating fear psychosis upon innocent civilians.
“In recent forcible entry into a private residence, firing rounds of bullets indiscriminately from automatic weapons to carry out abduction of individuals by armed miscreants is a blatant violation of law of the land in Dimapur,” it stated.
Furthermore, it called upon the state government, law enforcement agencies and police personnel to contain the activities of miscreants, ensuring peace and harmony in Dimapur.
