Kohima, June 27 (MExN): Yachem village accorded its final tribute to its Village Chieftain, late Sangti Phom, Head Barrick, Yachem at his native village on June 27. Born on July 5th 1935, he passed away on June 26 after a brief illness.
Speaking at the funeral programme, C Longnyu Phom, 2nd Head Barrick, Yachem recalled the late leader’s significant deeds and vision for Yachem. He invoked blessings of wisdom and knowledge for all offspring of Yachem Village, urging the community to carry forward his legacy.
Farewell speeches were delivered by S Pangnyu Phom, former Minister, Yachem Village Council, Chuchuyimlang Village Council, Yachem Students’ Union, clan representatives, family members, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all honouring the life and leadership of the late leader.
A solemn and historic moment was held at Yakang Pang, the highest and most revered decision-making place of Yachem, in honour of the great departed leader. Condolence messages poured in from Dimapur Yachem Bühü Pangthai, Yachem Bühü Pangthai Kohima, Yachem Bühü Toijem Longleng, Yachem Students’ Union, and villagers from neighbouring villages.
