Zanietso Vero laid to rest in Kohima

A prominent senior citizen Zanietso Vero, who passed away on March 9 last, was laid to rest today at Family Residence at Daklane, Kohima. Many people tuned up at the funeral service including Nagaland CAWD & taxes advisor Kudecho Khamo.

Zanietso Vero was born to Huveta Vero and Gweno Vero on October 16, 1953. He did his Bachelor's Degree in Kohima College and studied law at Kohima Law College. From an early age, he was passionate about music. He joined the choir of Union Baptist Church Kohima, and later the male quartet where he continued to serve in the church's music ministry.

During 1958-73, Zanietso took up leadership roles in various students' organizations: President, Kohima Chakhesang Students' Union (1968); President, Chakhesang Students' Union (CSU, 1971-72), during which the CSU celebrated its Silver Jubilee; Joint Secretary, Naga Students' Federation (NSF, 1971-72), and Treasurer, NSF (1972-73). He also became a member in the Youth Peace Corps, Nagaland Peace Centre.

In 1970, Zanietso served as Finance Secretary of the Chakhesang Baptist Church Kohima Building Committee. The church building was completed and dedicated on 21st October 1973. Zanietso also served as Chairman, CYE, CBCK from 1983-84, and the incorporation of electrical musical instruments in the youth worship services and organizing the youth choir is credited to him.

At his initiative and support, the church youth grouped together into a choir, which he named as "Yahweh Choir." Zanietso married Vechiikholii Vero on 19th May 1984, and they have been blessed with four children- Theja, Kethosino, Vekuto and Nietalii.

Zanietso was appointed as Circle Officer (CO), former name for EAC) in 1987. However, he took voluntary retirement in 1989 to serve the Lord in His ministry.

In December 1998, during the Porba Baptist Church Golden Jubilee celebrations, Zanietso gave his commitment to become a missionary. Following this, in March of 2000, his whole family left for Nepal to serve the Lord as tent making missionaries. He was commissioned as CBCC missionary to the western part of Nepal on March 26, 2004.

He and his family have continued to serve God as missionaries, ministering to the downtrodden and the untouchables of Nepal.
Zanietso also served as the Treasurer of Chakhesang Mission Society (CMS/CBCC) from 1990 -1995.

He taught worship and music at the School of Music and Worship (SMW), Kathmandu, and also continued his teaching in various churches, bible schools and colleges.

Till he breathed his last, Zanietso Vero and his family were still serving the Lord in far western Nepal.

Zanietso was also the Editor of the Naga Herald.

The funeral service was led by Kethovino Rhakho, Pastor CBCK while public homage was done by Rev. Vikuo Rhi, Associate Pastor CBCK. Rev Vezopa Rhakho, pastor CBCK pronounced Bible reading and prayer. Porba Social Club, Kohima, Baptist Church, Porba, Rev Dr Chekrovei Cho-o, Executive Secretary, Chakhesang Baptist Church Council, Vekhozo Khamo, Chairman, Board of Deacons, CBCK and others spoke at the funeral service. The funeral service was ministered by Rev Dr Kevekhalo Lasuh, senior pastor CBCK.
