Imphal, August 7 (NNN): Militant out Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has appealed all the Zeliangrong community to light candles in their houses on August 29 which is the death anniversary of Haipou Jadonnang Malangmei and on February 17 which is the death anniversary of Rani Gaidinliu. The militant outfit ZUF said every year the Zeliangrong people must observe these two anniversaries by lighting candles in their houses.
The ZUF said that the observance has been to show the Zeliangrong people's respect to the two legendary figures of the community who had done so much for the people. According to the ZUF, both Haipou Jadonnang and Rani Gaidinliu were not only freedom fighters but they were also social reformers, religious leaders and the architects of the Zeliangrong society. "Haipou Jadonnang and Rani Gaidinliu had a dream that Zeliangrong people live under one political administrative unit. We ought to honour the heroes who enlightened our mind to regain our lost dream," said the ZUF.
