The Kamson faction of the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has condemned the killing of Kesuthlungle Newme in Nagaland on April 7, describing it as a “brutal, pre-planned and cold-blooded” crime, and vowed to pursue justice.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the outfit said the murder of Kesuthlungle (31), near the NSCN (IM) Martyrs Park at Pimla village, was an “inhuman and barbaric act” that had not only claimed the life of an innocent woman but also “deeply wounded the collective conscience of the Zeliangrong community.”
The ZUF-Kamson termed the incident an act of cowardice and a direct assault on the dignity and security of its people. It warned those allegedly involved in the crime to surrender before the ZUF court at the earliest, failing which the outfit said it would deploy “every possible means” to trace and capture the perpetrators.
The statement accused the Nagaland Government and law enforcement agencies of failing to act despite repeated appeals from Zeliangrong civil organisations, calling the inaction “a betrayal of public trust” and “an alarming breakdown of justice.”
Calling for unity among organisations, leaders and citizens, the ZUF said justice for Kesuthlungle was “non-negotiable” and asserted its commitment to truth, justice and the protection of the community.
