The road leading to the Zunheboto Deputy Commissioner’s Office and Treasury Office has been left in a deplorable condition, with potholes covering much of the road and barely any visible black-topped surface remaining.
The condition has worsened with the incessant rainfall over the past few days, as rainwater has accumulated in the potholes, making them difficult to identify and posing a serious risk to motorists and pedestrians.
The situation is further aggravated by vehicles being parked along both sides of the already-damaged road, frequently disrupting the smooth flow of traffic. In some instances, vehicles are reportedly parked in the middle of the road, causing further congestion and inconvenience to commuters visiting the administrative offices.
The poor condition of the road leading to an important administrative complex raises questions about the state of basic infrastructure in and around government offices.
A concern citizen remarked, “If the approach road to the district’s administrative centre remains in such a condition, what residents can even expect regarding the maintenance of other public infrastructure”.
Another residence noted that the concerned department and authorities needs to take immediate steps to repair the road and regulate roadside parking to ensure safe and smooth movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
