LONGLENG, APRIL 11 (MExN): The 3rd Longleng District Inter-Departmental Tournament came to a close on April 10 at the Indoor Badminton Stadium, Longleng, with the President of the Phom Peoples’ Council (PPC), Y.B. Angam Phom, gracing the event as the special guest.
Addressing the gathering, Angam highlighted the transformative power of sports, saying, “Sports is more than just game, it teaches us valuable life lessons like teamwork, discipline, and perseverance, and build physical & mental resilience.” He lauded the participants for their sportsmanship and spirit of healthy competition, emphasizing that “winning is not everything, but the joy of participation, thrill of competition and the camaraderie of teamwork is what truly matters.”
He extended his appreciation to all participants, organizers, and volunteers, commending their commitment to promoting physical activity and inter-departmental camaraderie. “Such events are a great opportunity for government employees, knowing each other which will foster better work culture and coordination among the departments and promote healthy and active lifestyle,” he said, adding that such efforts would bring “a positive impact paving within the departments in future.”
Angam also acknowledged the Deputy Commissioner for his proactive leadership and tireless coordination among department heads, which he said contributed to the success of the event.
Congratulating all participants and winners, he remarked, “It’s not about winning or losing, it’s about showing up and doing the best and enjoying every moment and making this sporting event a memorable one to remember.”
Forty departments took part in the tournament. The overall championship title was clinched by the 12th NAP IR Battalion, Chingtok, while the School Education Department secured second place.
Er. S.B. Angh, EE PWD Longleng, delivered a short speech on behalf of the organizing committee. The programme featured a special performance by students of St. Joseph High School, Longleng, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Imtiyanger Imsong, DLRSO Longleng. Forest Ranger Chepeu Koza chaired the closing ceremony, while Pastor Chingthai Phom of Police Baptist Church pronounced the benediction.
