EKU Myanmar, GASU welcome newly elected ENWO leadership

Dimapur, November 2 (MExN): The Eastern Konyak Union (EKU), Myanmar, has welcomed the newly elected leadership of the Eastern Nagaland Women's Organisation (ENWO), led by its president, Tsitongla Sangtam.

In a congratulatory message, EKU welcomed the new team and acknowledged the confidence and trust placed in its members to lead an organisation that plays an important role in the social life of Eastern Nagaland.

The Union expressed hope that the new leadership would advance ENWO's vision through progressive initiatives, collective participation and constructive engagement. It also looked forward to the organisation's continued contributions towards women's empowerment, social welfare, inclusive governance and sustainable community development.

Highlighting the importance of women's leadership and participation, EKU stated that they were essential to strengthening grassroots democracy, responsive governance and cohesive communities. It said ENWO had an important role in encouraging women's representation in decision-making, nurturing emerging leaders and advancing the collective aspirations of women across Eastern Nagaland.

The Union expressed hope for a dynamic, visionary and forward-looking leadership that would strengthen ENWO's institutional capacity, expand women's participation in public life and promote meaningful initiatives for inclusive community development.

As an organisation representing the Eastern Konyak community in Myanmar, EKU said it attached great importance to people-to-people contacts, cultural exchanges, regional connectivity and constructive cross-border engagement.

It observed that stronger social, cultural and institutional cooperation among communities across the international boundary could contribute to mutual understanding, regional peace, shared prosperity and inclusive development. Such initiatives, it added, would also complement the broader objectives of regional friendship, connectivity and cooperation across India's eastern neighbourhood.

EKU expressed hope that ENWO would emerge as a stronger source of inspiration for women, nurture the aspirations of younger generations and strengthen mutual respect, understanding, peaceful coexistence and collective responsibility across Naga communities.

GASU: Meanwhile, the Ganglei Area Students Union (GASU) has congratulated the newly elected leadership of the Eastern Nagaland Women's Organisation (ENWO), and wished the president and all office-bearers success in their responsibilities.

In a separate congratulatory message, the union expressed hope that the new leadership would carry forward ENWO's work with dedication and introduce new ideas and initiatives to address the needs and aspirations of women across Eastern Nagaland.

Highlighting the importance of women's leadership in inspiring younger generations, the union said that encouraging women to speak, participate and take responsibility would also help young people gain confidence to pursue their ambitions and contribute to their communities.

It expressed hope that ENWO would continue to inspire young women to pursue education, develop their abilities and take an active interest in public life.

The union also highlighted the aspirations of the younger generation, stating that education, employment opportunities and the freedom to pursue one's ambitions remained important concerns. It said encouragement from community organisations and experienced leaders could make a significant difference in helping young people find direction and confidence.

Emphasising the bonds shared among Naga communities, the union said friendship, mutual understanding and a sense of belonging were essential to strengthening relationships. It expressed hope that ENWO's work would further promote cooperation among communities across geographical boundaries and foster a peaceful, caring and progressive society.
