Dimapur, December 13 (MExN): The 19th Inter-District & State Table Tennis Championship 2011 began today here at District Indoor Stadium. Organized by Nagaland Table Tennis Association and hosted by Dimapur District Table Tennis Association, the annual event saw 6 districts participating for the Championship title while 105 participants including boys and girls are vying for the titles in the Individual categories.
DC Dimapur, Hushili Sema, who inaugurated the Championship, was happy to see a large number of participants from different districts participating in the Table Tennis event.
She said highlighted the importance of games and sports and urged the participants to exhibit their sportsmanship spirit while they play with opponents from different district.
She also said that this was a great opportunity for the youths from different districts to build up relationships with each other.
The DC was also impressed to note female participants in the championship.
NTTA Vice President, Hoshika Swu also exhorted the participants about the table tennis championship and urged them to show their sportsmanship spirit during the 3-day tournament.
The tournament was declared open by the Deputy Commissioner, who also tried a hand on Table Tennis game playing with NTTA Vice President.
Before the inaugural match, an exhibition match was played between District Sports Officer Dimapur, Nizheto Awomi and Vikou Metha, Chief Referee On the first day of the championship, team events were played participated by Dimapur, Mokokchung, Kohima, Peren, Zunheboto and Mon districts.
