Dimapur, October 24 (MExN): The Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) has expressed solidarity with the Ao Senden over its demands for improved healthcare services at Dr Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH), Mokokchung, urging the State government to address the issues before the October 31, 2026 deadline.
In a statement, the CNTC endorsed the Ao Senden’s demands, citing shortages of specialist personnel, administrative apathy and underutilisation of hospital infrastructure.
The council said IMDH, a critical healthcare facility serving Mokokchung and surrounding areas, continued to face challenges that compel patients to travel long distances or incur substantial expenses for diagnostic and medical services that should be available at the district hospital.
The CNTC called on the Department of Health and Family Welfare to deploy a qualified specialist radiologist to IMDH without further delay, revoke existing staff attachments and ensure that doctors and nurses return to their designated duties at the hospital.
It also urged the government to immediately operationalise the newly constructed Block A to expand the hospital’s patient-care capacity.
Reiterating its support for the Ao Senden, the CNTC said it would stand with the organisation in any further course of action necessary to secure accessible healthcare and uphold the dignity of the people in the region.
