Kohima Eagles and St Joseph's College enter pre quarters
Kohima, October 4 (MExN): Kohima Eagles FC and St. Joseph's College Jakhama today entered the pre -quarter finals of the ongoing 19 NSF martyrs memorial trophy here.
Kohima Eagles FC beat Rüsoma VYSA 8-0. Khweteli Thopi converted the first and second goals in the 3rd & 33rd minutes. Rhitso Mero scored the third and fourth goals in the 49th & 60th minutes, while Mengüzelie Rütsa and Noune Medoze contributed two goals each in the 74th, 79th & 90+ minute.
Meanwhile, St Joseph's College Jakhama sealed victory over Kijümetouma Village Students' Union 5-4 via tie-break after both sides were stuck in a deadlock with 4 goals each until the stipulated 90minutes play.
Kijumetouma VSU took an early lead when Neitho-o Theünuo netted the first goal in 8th minute followed by the second goal scored by Niuka in the 10th minute.
Later SJC found the equalised through Edward (16) who scored the first and second goal in the 15th & 22nd minutes.
Kijumetouma VSU's leading goal came from the boot of Sikito in the 32nd minute which was quickly equalised by Kapzei of SJC in the 34th minute through spot kick.
Back in to the second half, Neitho-o Theünuo of Kijumetouma VSU scored the fourth goal in the 47th minute, ensuring the lead for his side till the dying minutes of the game. However, the spirited SJC found the much sought goal through a header from Kapzei in the 90+ minute bringing the match to a deadlock.
SJC emerged victorious via tie break 5-4.
They will now play against Kohima Eagles in the Round of 16 on 12th October at 2pm.
