19th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy 2018: Phesama YO, Meriema VYO book quarter finals berth

Phesama Youth Organization and Meriema Village Youth Organization today booked their quarter finals berths after winning their respective matches at the ongoing 19th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy 2018 here under the aegis of Angami Students’ Union.  

Phesama YO moved into the last eight after defeating Charoi Chiru Naga FC, Manipur 5-2.  

Neisaleto Kuotsu scored the first, second, fourth & fifth goals for Phesama YO in the 28th, 31st, 64th & 76th minute, while Theja Chuse netted the third goal for the team in the 56th minute.  

Both the goals for Charoi Chiru Naga FC came through Thangawar and Kenneth in the second-half injury time.  

Ropfükolie Seleyi and Abei Kar of Phesama YO and Asif and Kennedy of Charoi Chiru Naga FC were cautioned with yellow cards. Johnson of Charoi Chiru Naga FC was sent off in the 77th minute of the play.  

Meriema VYO also entered the last eight by overpowering United Brothers FC 4-1 in the fourth pre-quarter finals match.  

MVYO opened the account in the 21st minute through a spot kick by Kelhouneizo Üsou. MVYO continued to lead with the second and third goals scored by Kevizhakie Ciesotsu and Vikeduolie Lhousi in the 62nd & 69th minutes. The fourth goal came from the boot of Keviyabei-u Keditsü in the injury time.  

The lone goal for United Brothers FC came through a spot kick conversion from Jaa Jaa Solo in the 74th minute.  

During the match, seven players were penalised with yellow cards. They included Kevirütuo Üsou, Kikrubeizo Keditsu, Vizotuolie Lhousi, Keneingütuo Yaotsu of Meriema VYO, Neihetuo Linyü, Vilazo Linyü and Kisan Chettri of United Brothers FC.  

Meriema VYO will now clash with Phesama YO in the Quarter-Finals on October 15 at 2:00pm.
