19th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy: Rising Star and Monsang SU enter pre-quarters

Rising Star (Mizoram) and Monsang Students' Union (Manipur) today secured their pre-quarter berths after registering wins in their respective matches at the ongoing 19th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy 2018 here under the aegis of Angami Students’ Union.  

Rising Star qualified for pre-quarter finals after defeating Khrietho FC Zhadima by 5 goals to 1.  

Rinawma of Rising Star gave the lead for his team by scoring two consecutive goals in the 3rd & 15th minutes of play. The second goal came through a spot kick conversion.   Isaac, Byrain Khongsai and Lun contributed a goal each in the 22nd, 33rd & 49th minute respectively.  

A solitary goal for Khrietho FC Zhadima came through the boot of Keneikhrietuo in the 64th minute.  

In another match of the day, Monsang Students' Union overpowered Friends United FC (New Market) 3-2.  

The first goal for Monsang Students' Union came through Marconi in the 7th minute. After the lemon break, Ngamsha doubled the score for his side in the 62nd minute while Ngamneirü (7) scored the third goal in the 75th minute.  

Coming back strong in the second half, Gideon of Friends United FC netted both the goals for his team in the 58th & 71st minute.  

With this, Monsang Students' Union will now clash with Rising Star on October 10 in the pre-quarter finals.
