10-day long annual 2nd People’s Festival Khezhakeno 2019 commenced at Chida Resort under Khezhakeno village in Phek district as part of Hornbill Festival of Nagaland on December 2.
Phek, December 2 (MExN): The 10-day long annual 2nd People’s Festival Khezhakeno 2019 commenced today at Chida Resort under Khezhakeno village in Phek district as part of Hornbill Festival of Nagaland.
Gracing the inaugural function, Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) president Mikha Kenye expressed happiness for organizing the People's Festival saying that this festival should be managed together by the people in the days to come too.
He lauded the ancestral village Khezhakeno in maintaining the Chida Resort with its natural beauty and also conserving the trees and flowers.
He asserted that the CPO will give all cooperation in safeguarding and protecting the Chida boundary.
Delivering the welcome address, Pfuche Koza, youth advisor of Khezhakeno Youth Organization said the primary objective of this People’s Festival Khezhakeno is to promote People-to-People interaction and exchange culture not only at the home ground but with the outside world at large.
The festival is still in the nascent stage and is to be held annually from December 1 to 10 every year, coinciding with the State Hornbill Festival, he said.
Highlighting the various activities of the festival, he said there is Boating, Go-Karting, Phekete, Tug-of-War, Traditional Fire-Making, Bamboo Pole Climbing and Angling and ethnic food stalls.
He also said that the visitors can take a ride to the inner most part of the village and visit the ancestral historical sites of the remnants remains such as the Tsopoupe Chitude Kebe (Mythical growing stone), Mowo Ke (Chief Priest House), Zhi Nhakalake (nose of the Lake), Kelhe Dzukho (sanctification Pond), Ezako Dzukho (ancient Pond) etc at Khezhakeno.
