32nd SASA Football & Suhokhe Yeptho Volleyball memorial trophies underway

SURUHUTO, JANUARY 13 (MExN): The 32nd Suruhuto Area Sports Association (SASA) Football Trophy and Suhokhe Yeptho Volleyball Memorial Trophy were officially inaugurated on January 13 at the New Public Ground, Suruhuto Town, with the Deputy Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, S. Toiho Yeptho, gracing the event as the special guest.

In his address, Deputy Speaker Yeptho emphasised the motto of SASA, “To push forward,” urging the participants and residents of Suruhuto to reflect on how far they have come in the pursuit of sports excellence. He commended the efforts of SASA pioneers and the many athletes who have represented Suruhuto, not only within the region but also at the state level. Yeptho encouraged the current generation of sports enthusiasts to strive for greater achievements and break new records.

As part of his speech, Yeptho also responded to a request from SASA officials for the construction of a rostrum at the New Suruhuto Public Ground. He assured the gathering of his commitment to facilitating the project, recognizing the importance of such infrastructure for the local community.

The inaugural event was attended by a number of distinguished guests, including the Deputy Speaker’s PRO, the President and General Secretary of NCP 33 A/C, Commandant 8th NAP, Naltoqa, members of the Suruhuto Range Students' Union (SRSU), Suruhuto Area Kukami Hoho, and village chiefs from the Suruhuto area.

The program was chaired by Kainato Shikhu, the Games and Sports Secretary of SASA. The welcome address and presidential speech were delivered by Boto Awomi, president of SASA. The event also featured a cultural display by the 'B' Khel of Suruhuto Town.
