Manipur saw the largest number of returnees on Tuesday with 3311 stranded people arriving in the State from various parts of the country. The people returned by different means including air services, trains and private vehicles.
A total of 2497 stranded people arrived in Jiribam railway station in Manipur bordering Assam by two trains arranged by the Manipur government while 311 people arrived in the State capital Imphal by air services and 93 persons by other mode of surface transport.
Three flights (two Indigo and one Air Asia) landed at Imphal airport carrying 311 passengers from Delhi.
Regarding those people who returned by trains, one train came from Goa via Hyderabad while other train came from Mumbai.
Sources said that 93 commuters entered Manipur by surfaced routes on Tuesday. Among them, 77 of them entered along NH-2 through Mao Gate and 16 through Jiribam Gate along NH-37.
Meanwhile, all the returnees were sent to institutional and community quarantine centres.
Including some returnees arrived on Tuesday, a total of 9,690 individuals are in the community quarantine centres opened across the 60 assembly constituencies.
