Longleng hosts District Red Run 2026 to promote HIV, STI awareness

Longleng, August 3 (MExN): The District Red Run 2026 was organised in Longleng district on Monday under the aegis of the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) as part of a statewide campaign to create awareness on HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Before the flag-off, District AIDS Control Officer (DACO) Longleng, Dr. Temsusashi, addressed the participants and delivered an awareness talk on HIV/AIDS and STIs.

He emphasised the importance of prevention, early testing, and eliminating stigma and discrimination associated with HIV, while encouraging young people to adopt safe and responsible health practices. He said every individual's effort contributes towards building an HIV-free society.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from young men and women aged 17 to 25 years, reflecting the commitment of youth towards spreading awareness and promoting healthy lifestyles.

Held under the theme, "Every Step Counts Against HIV and STIs," the run aimed to reinforce the message that collective action can make a significant difference in the fight against HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.

In the men's category, Katlong Phom secured first place, followed by A Phekmei Phom in second and N Tenkom Phom in third.

In the women's category, C Lingoi emerged winner, while Wanyong D Phom and Oyau Phom finished second and third, respectively.
