Tuensang | November 7

Auyang FC ended their campaign on a positive note, defeating Legit FC 3-0 in the ongoing 33rd Loyem Memorial Trophy at the Loyem Memorial Astro Turf, Tuensang.

After two consecutive losses, Auyang looked more settled under clear skies. The first half remained even until Leangen P Konyak scored in the 40th minute to give them the lead. In the second half, Liko Akum made it 2-0 in the 50th minute, before Leangen added his second in the 56th to seal the win.

The result came too late to keep Auyang in contention for the semi-finals, but the performance offered a strong finish to their campaign. In the second match, United Comets FC edged Oilek FC 3-2 in a tense encounter that decided the Group B semi-final spot.

After a goalless first half, Sanchu opened the scoring for Oilek in the 48th minute. United Comets responded through Hemlen in the 59th, and Chingmak put them ahead three minutes later. Oilek fought back through Tuma’s equaliser in the 69th, but Bamolemba struck the winner in stoppage time to send the Comets into the semi-finals alongside group leaders SP XI. The 33rd Loyem Memorial Trophy continues on Saturday, November 8, with an exhibition match between the LMT Organizing Team and the Chang Sports Association at 12:30 p.m., followed by the final Group A clash between Shanen FC and Khiamniungan Sports Council at 2:30 p.m. — a meeting between two unbeaten sides for the top spot and semi-final seeding.
