Advisor S Keoshu Yimkhiung addresses the opening ceremony of the 36th edition of the CASA Annual Football Tournament 2025 at Chessore HQ on October 28.
Chessore, October 28 (MExN): The 36th edition of the Chessore Area Sports Association (CASA) Annual Football Tournament 2025 was officially inaugurated today at Chessore Headquarters by S Keoshu Yimkhiung, Advisor for Youth Resources and Sports.
Organised in collaboration with Sansad Khelo Mahotsav, the tournament will see participation from nine football clubs from the area.
Addressing the gathering, the Advisor, who is also the Chairman of the Shamator District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), highlighted the growing importance of sports beyond recreation and physical fitness. He noted that modern research recognises sports as a key contributor to the holistic development of individuals.
Keoshu further emphasised that sports foster not only physical strength but also psychological resilience, social cohesion, and academic or professional growth. “Sports are not a peripheral activity but a fundamental component of holistic development. The integration of sports into daily life is essential for nurturing individuals who are physically healthy, emotionally balanced, socially adept, and equipped with the skills necessary to succeed in all aspects of life,” he stated.
H Mukamchim, President of CASA, and L Shahoto, President of Shamator District Football Associati, also delivered the welcome and short speeches respectively.
The opening programme concluded with the Advisor formally declaring the tournament open.
