MOKOKCHUNG, MARCH 29 (MExN): A 6-year-old girl died from injuries sustained in a traffic accident on March 29 at around 10:30 am near Police Point in Mokokchung Compound. The child, identified as Imtemen, was struck by a Bolero pickup truck, which was carrying 2000 liters of water when it reportedly collided with a roadside mound and overturned.
The girl’s mother, Akangmongla, aged 40, was also injured in the incident. Both were rushed to the hospital, but Imtemen succumbed to her injuries shortly after being admitted to Imkongmeren Memorial District Hospital, Additional Superintendent of Police and PRO, Mokokchung police stated in a press release.
The family declined a post-mortem examination, and after completing the required legal procedures, the body was returned to them. The driver of the vehicle, 28-year-old Rongsennuken, was arrested and is currently in police custody. A case has been registered at Mokokchung Police Station, and an investigation into the accident is ongoing.
