6th Kohima district open volley tourney underway

The 6th edition of Kohima district open volleyball tournament 2018 under the aegis of Kohima District Volleyball Association (KDVA) got underway here today at Kohima Local Ground.  

Altogether, 21 teams under Kohima district registered for the tournament, which will go on till November 26.  

Gracing that inaugural function as special guest, Kohima Municipal council (KMC) administrator Kovi Meyase lauded the organizer for organizing such tournament and providing platform to the uprising youth to demonstrate their talents.

Encouraging the players, Meyase said sports is among the biggest industry in the world and the successful players are earning huge amount.  

He advised the sportspersons to be sincere and committed so as excel in the field of games and sports.   The beauty of the sports is that it teaches us the humanity and equality irrespective of race or colour as the same rules and regulations apply to all, he said.  

Welcome address was delivered by KDVA president Visasielie Suohu while technical director Mhalevilie Kere administered oath to the participating teams.   The inaugural function was chaired by organizing committee convenor Hulie Belho.  

Friday’s matches will start from 9:00 AM onwards.  

Winning teams on day one

In Men’s category, Phesama Youth Organization, Kiruphema Youth Organisation, United Sporting Club, Kiruphema, Kenozou Youth Orgnisation won two matches each.  

Khwiino Spikers, Khonoma, Wagers Club, Perizie Colony Kohima, Nerhema Youth Organisation, Zenith Club, Kezo Town, Shurho Mountain Club Kigwema, Neichazou Volleyball Club, Mima won a match each.   In Women’s category, Elite Sisters Club,Sepfuzou colony Kohima and Tiema Khe, Kidima won two matches each.
