6th Kohima District Open Volleyball Tournament 2018

Phesama YO, Elite Sisters wins

Defending champions Phesama Youth Organisation (Men) and Elite Sisters Kohima (Women) remained unbeaten to retain the champion title of 6th Kohima District Open Volleyball Tournament 2018 organized by Kohima District Volleyball Association (KDVA) here at Kohima Local Ground under the theme “Transcending through sports.”  

Playing the final match of the tournament in men’s category, Phesama YO registered comfortable win over Kiruphema Youth Organisation in straight three sets by 25/17, 25/23 and 25/18.  

Winning the coveted champion title, Phesama YO pocketed a cash prize of Rs 35,000 with trophy and citations sponsored by T.Lhousa deputy conservator of forest while runner up Kiruphema Youth Organization received Rs 25,000.  

In the individual category: Neithongulie Koutsu of Phesama YO was adjudged best spiker and Kedicho Pucho of Zenith Club, Kezo Town as best setter and received Rs. 5000 each.  

The losing semi-finalist – Miechazou Volleyball Club, Mima and Kenouzou Club Kohima also awarded with Rs 5,000 each.  

In final match of women’s category, Elite Sisters Kohima overcame Tiema-Khe Kidima by straight three sets of 25/20, 25/23 and 25/13 points.  

Elite Sisters received Rs 25,000 with trophy and citation sponsored by Ketoupozo Lhousie while Tiema-Khe Kidima awarded with Rs 15,000 sponsored by Akho Neikha of Theja Service Station.  

Jevikali Achumi of Elite Sisters was adjudged the best spiker and Kezevile Yongo of Tiema-Khe Kidima as best setter. They received Rs 2000 each.  

Individual prizes in both category was sponsored by Spikes Club Kohima.  

Earlier, 3rd Assam Rifles commandant Col. Debraj Bhattacharya graced the valedictory function as special guest and gave away prizes to the winners.   Altogether, 21 teams joined the tournament.
