6th OCK Men’s Open Basketball Trophy begins

A three day long 6th Men’s Open Basketball Trophy 2025 under the aegis of the Oriental College Kohima commenced today at Oriental College, Seikhazou, Kohima.

The tournament was declared open by Nunese Sale, Class 1 contractor, CEO Nune’s Construction, Chairperson, DCCTI, President, Vision Trinity Club, Chief Event Manager Kekhrie Krotho.

Speaking on the occasion, Sale encouraged everyone to create new bond of friendship and healthy competition.

He also challenged the players not to treat this tournament as a seasonal game but keep up the high spirit throughout and create a better Nagaland through sports.

Delivering keynote address, Dr. Watinaro Longkumer, Principal, Oriental College, Kohima said that sports can help people come out from depression, addiction in various forms.

It also gives opportunity to youths to display their skills in various fields of games, she added.

Altogether, 12 teams have registered for this tournament. It includes; Orca, Arrow Farm, Kohima Highlanders, Team Netters, Horsemen, Basic Ballers, ABC ‘A’, ABC ‘B,’ Tauras, Oriental College Kohima, Fernwood School and TMB.

Earlier, the inaugural session was chaired by Setuolie Theiinuo, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce.

Dziizienuo Yhome, Assistant Professor, Department of Tenyidie rendered a special presentation.

Meanwhile, the champion will be awarded with Rs. 50,000 alongwith running trophy while runner-up will receive Rs. 30,000 alongwith running trophy.

Most Valuable Player will get Rs. 5000. The tournament will continue till October 1.
