WOKHA, MARCH 20 (MExN): The 7th edition of the Inter-Departmental Badminton Championship concluded on Tuesday at the Indoor Badminton Stadium, Wokha. Organized by the Wokha District Sports Council, the tournament took place from March 18-19 with participation from 21 departments.
In the men’s doubles final, Rhovisie and Haidingsap (Police) emerged victorious over Er. Yanthanshan and Dr. Ezao (PWD). In the mixed doubles category, Libemo Jami and Nsungbeni L. Tungoe (Youth Resources & Sports) secured first place, followed by Dr. Alice and Dr. Renthungo Patton (Mt. Tiyi College) in second and Echungbemo Erui and Rechalungle (District Administration) in third.
The women’s doubles event saw Nsungbeni and L. Nzanbeni Kikon (Youth Resources & Sports) clinch the top spot, with Dr. Alice and Soreni Odyuo (Mt. Tiyi College) finishing second and Aren Jamir and Motile (Medical) taking third.
Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, Vineet Kumar, attended the opening ceremony as the special guest, while Wokha Town Council Deputy Chairperson, Nzano P. Kikon, graced the closing ceremony as the guest of honor.
A total of 55 male and 17 female participants competed in the championship, showcasing talent and sportsmanship throughout the event.
