Meluri, May 29 (MExN): MLA & Advisor, N&RE, NSDMA, Government of Nagaland, Z Nyusietho Nyuthe, conducted an on-site inspection of the ongoing construction of the two-lane road from Akhegwo to Avakhung (Package 1 to 3), “reaffirming government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and connectivity in frontier regions.”

An update received here stated that recognising the strategic importance of cross-border connectivity and infrastructure reinforcement, the Advisor’s visit focused on assessing the pace and quality of work, identifying challenges on the ground, and ensuring alignment with the broader vision of regional integration and accessibility.

In his remarks, Nyuthe emphasised the importance of quality workmanship, stating that durable, safe, and well-engineered infrastructure forms the backbone of sustainable development and long-term connectivity. He urged the contractors and engineers to uphold the highest technical standards and ensure that every phase of the project reflects accountability, precision, and excellence.

He highlighted the strategic importance of the Akhegwo–Avakhung road as a vital link to South-East Asian countries and the shortest route from Nagaland to New Thamanti port at Myanmar (approx. 110 kms). Emphasizing the role of public support in infrastructure success, he appealed for the active cooperation of the community to ensure smooth implementation, noting that collective effort is essential for timely completion and quality workmanship.

The Advisor was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Meluri, Superintendent of Police Meluri, departmental heads, officials from Pochury Hoho, Pochury Mother’s Association, Pochury Students’ Union, NHIDCL engineer, and other public leaders.
