Aghunato division Inter-School Sports Competition underway

Aghunato, March 26 (MExN): Under the theme, “Bridging Schools, Building Champions,” the four-day Inter-School Sports Competition under Aghunato sub-division commenced today at Aghunato Ground, Aghunato. 

A total of eight schools are participating in the competition, with nearly a thousand students competing in various sports disciplines, including football, badminton, volleyball, and relay race, as per a DIPR report. 

Inaugurated the meet as the special guest,  Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Aghunato, D Robin  encouraged the students to demonstrate resilience, teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship throughout the event. 

He also expressed gratitude to all heads of offices under Aghunato sub-division and other well-wishers for their support. 

Additionally, he appreciated the Branch Manager of SBI for extending the patronage of the Nagaland Super League (NSL) to Aghunato.

The competition is organised by the Aghunato Town Students’ Union (ATSU) in collaboration with the heads of offices under Aghunato sub-division and is supported by NSL.

The gathering also paid tribute to the late N William Koso, Nagaland’s first AFC A-License Coach, who recently passed away on March 25. 
Nitsato K Yepthomi, President of ATSU, delivered the welcome address, while the oath-taking was led by Awoka Awomi, Sports Secretary of ATSU.

Following the inauguration, a football match was played between Mount Stephen School and Snowfield School, Aghunato.
The meet will conclude on March 29.
