AKM on govt declaring Molungyimsen as “Naga Educational Heritage” village

Dimapur, March 25 (MExN): The apex Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has deeply appreciated the Government of Nagaland for declaring Molungyimsen village as “Naga Educational Heritage” village, recognizing the selfless effort and sacrifice made by Rev.Dr.E.W Clark and Mrs Mary Mead to impart formal education to the Nagas 135 years ago.
The AKM has, in the year 2003 declared Molungyimsen village as the ‘Cradle of Education’ which was recognized by Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and subsequently declared as ‘Educational Heritage village’. Molungyimsen village, being the root cause of formal education for the Nagas, the students’ community in particular should respect and uphold the sanctity of the village as well as the declaration made by the Government, stated a press note issued by the president and secretary of AKM.
It also stated that the declaration made by Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio on March 20 has been the long cherished dream of the AKM as well as the Naga students, as such, the AKM is hopeful that, besides the declaration, the government and Molungyimsen villagers should continue to render unflinching support for the development and upliftment of ‘Naga Educational Heritage Village’.
