DIMAPUR, APRIL 4 (MExN): The annual sports and games meet of St. John School, Kiusam Town, was formally inaugurated Friday by Kiusam Extra Assistant Commissioner Wetso Lasushe, NCS, in a ceremony attended by public leaders, parents, pastors, Dobashis, and Gaon Buras.
Addressing the gathering, Lasushe urged students to participate with dedication, teamwork, and perseverance. He emphasized that the true spirit of sports lies not merely in winning or losing but in the joy of participation, learning, and growing together.
“The celebration of sports should teach us the value of friendship, discipline, and shared experiences,” Lasushe said, while also commending the school faculty, parents, and community leaders for their role in shaping the future generation.
The event opened with a prayer by Pastor Taichang of Kiusam village. The school’s principal, Rev. Fr. Thomas Toretkiu, delivered the welcome address. The program included a series of performances and ceremonial activities such as a welcome song, flag unfurling, march-past, torch lighting, drill display, cultural dances, and a special presentation by kindergarten students.
Catherine served as the master of ceremonies, while Head Teacher Sir David delivered the vote of thanks. The inaugural ceremony concluded with an exhibition football match between a team of special invitees and school staff.
