Arunachal govt spent Rs 1,300 cr on developing infra in schools in previous fiscal: CM

Itanagar, June 17 (PTI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday said that his government has spent Rs 1,300 crore in the previous financial year on developing infrastructure in state-run schools.

Adequate funds have been kept for this financial year too, he said after inaugurating Kunphen Jangchup Clinic at Manjushree Vidyapeeth in Tawang district bordering China.

Terming the National Education Policy (NEP) as one of the greatest reforms in the sector, Khandu said the state government will implement it in all public schools in a phased manner by 2030, a communiqu said.

"Our youngsters are very talented. They have excelled in sports, performing arts and music. We are focussed on providing them with platforms to explore and excel in their chosen fields," he said.

Founded by Padmashree Lama Thupten Phuntsok, Manjushree Vidyapeeth has been offering formal education to poor children and orphans since 1988.

The newly opened clinic will cater to health services of the children in the institute.

"Since the beginning, I have been personally associated with the institute. I have witnessed its difficult initial days and success in tackling all hurdles to emerge as one of the best educational institutes in the district," Khandu added.
