
Dimapur, March 20 (MExN): Different battalions of Assam Rifles (AR) have been contributing for the social welfare of the public in almost all the districts of Nagaland. Especially in the rural areas by providing water supply, medicines free of cost, community halls etc.
1 Assam Rifles
The 1 AR conducted free Eye Camp at Aboi Town from March 13 to 14 under aegis of Headquarters 7 Sector Assam Rifles.
A press note from the 1 AR stated that the camp was conducted by a team of four doctors including two civil doctors - Asst Comdt Golap Hussain, ARMO, 1 AR, Capt Preeth Pany T, RMO, 1 AR, Dr. MA Wati, MS Mon, Mon district hospital alongwith Dr. Moarenba, Ophth Assistant Aboi CHC and AR medical staff.
A total of 159 patients including ladies and children received free eye treatment & free medicines. The patients were also provided with medicines and spectacles free of cost. A total of 75 spectacles were prescribed and given to villagers for free during the said camp. The camp was conducted from early morning till late evening to attend to the patients who had come from far away villages, the note informed.
Also the 1 AR conducted free medical camp at Tobu town from March 11 to 12 under aegis of Headquarters 7 Sector Assam Rifles.
Two doctors and medical staff conducted the camp, where 237 patients including women and children received free medical treatment and medicines.
The camp was conducted from morning till late evening so that they can attend to the patients who had come from far away villages. The camp was conducted successfully and the villagers and civil administration thanked the AR for the noble deed. Moreover, the AR promised the villagers of continues support.
A Water Storage Tank at Pangsha, Tuensang district, was inaugurated on March 3 by the1 AR . The project was constructed by 1 AR, as part of DGAR Military Civic Action Project under the aegis of HQ 7 Sector AR. The people of Pangsha expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the 1st AR for doing a magnificent job and completing the project in the shortest possible time.
1 AR assured the villagers for further help and added that the people should come forward, and extend co-operation. Which would be in the greater interest of both locals and security force and will strengthen the bond between the locals and SF.
In addition, the 1 AR, inaugurated a community hall at Noklak, Tuensang district on March 2. This project was also carried out as part of DGAR Military Civic Action Project under the aegis of HQ 7 Sector AR. The people of Noklak expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the 1 AR, the note said. During the inauguration ceremony, the chairman, GBs and DBs of the Noklak expressed gratitude towards the efforts of the AR.
21 Assam Rifles
Also in a separate press note isued by issued by Lt Col RP Velu, PRO, IGAR (N) stated that a water tank with pipe line at Lizu Naghuto Village, Zunheboto district, (Nagaland) was inaugurated on February 28 by 21 AR. The project was constructed by 21 AR, as part of Army MCA Proj (Op Samaritan) under the aegis of Headquarter 7 Sector AR.
A gathering of about 150 people of Lizu Naghuto village witnessed the inaugural function. During the inauguration ceremony, the chairman, Lizu Naghuto Village Council expressed his immense pleasure and satisfaction and also expressed his deep sense of gratitude towards the efforts of the AR in the village.
20 Assam Rifles
The 20 AR under aegis of 5 Sect under IGAR (N) continued its effort to bring succor to the inhabitants of Medziphima by constructing and inaugurating a waiting shed near the community health centre on NH-29, Medziphima village. According to a press note, the villagers stated that the shed will be of immense use not only to the passerby but also to the sick patients visiting health centre daily, and also will be used extensively both in monsoons and summer. Dr Elizabeth, Chief Medical Officer, CHC, Medziphima, expressed her gratitude on behalf of all the doctors, nurses and staff to the Commandant and Assam Rifles for taking on this project for the health centre which was a long pending requirement and will be of great use while managing a large number of emergency patients being located on NH-29. The construction was completed in a record time of one month.
The 20 AR also constructed and inaugurated a water supply scheme near the primary school at Molvom village. According to the villagers, the water supply system will be of immense use to the villagers particularly during summers. Allet, the GB, the pastor of the village, expressed their gratitude on behalf of all the villagers to the Commandant and Assam Rifles for taking on this project for the village which was a long pending requirement and will be of great use. The note mentioned that due to commitment and cooperation of villagers, the construction was completed in a record time of one month.
16 Assam Rifles
The 16 Assam Rifles presented three computers with peripherals devices to Dzukeke village and Mezoma village of Kohima district with a view to enhance computer literacy among the youths of these villages. The Commandant 16 Assam Rifles emphasized the need of computers literacy and knowledge among youth in his address to the villagers .The President of Dzuleke and Mezoma villages thanked AR for the gratitude shown to them, informed a press note issued by the AR.
Moroever, the 16 AR has handed over the hostel building of Government Middle School, Jotsoma occupied as a company-operating base, to the civil administration on March 18.
The renovated hostel building premises along with facilities for running water from the main PHE water tank and other utility infrastructure appropriately fenced was handed over to the civil administration as a good will gesture in keeping with the motto “Friends of the Hill people”. The civil administration expressed gratitude to Assam Rifles for their benevolence, informed the AR in a press note.
