WOKHA, JUNE 24 (MExN): The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Bhandari Sub-Division, Wokha, conducted an awareness campaign on livestock insurance schemes under the National Livestock Mission (NLM) 2025–26 at Merapani village and the Bhandari Town Summer House-cum-Guest House on June 23.
During the event, Deputy Director, Veterinary Hospital Wokha, Dr Gwazenlo Tep highlighted the benefits of livestock insurance schemes under the National Livestock Mission.
The scheme encourages farmers to insure their animals, adopt improved livestock management practices and reduce the economic burden arising from unexpected losses, he said.
Dr Tep also explained the procedure for availing insurance coverage, including the required documents and GPS-based photographs of livestock. He informed participants that the scheme provides compensation to insured livestock owners in the event of loss.
During the programme, chaired by Dr Kikali G Sumi, Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Merapani, farmers were provided free basic veterinary aids, the State DIPR informed.
