Azo on progress of MoU signed between govt & CIHSR

Kohima, March 26 (DIPR): Minister for health & family welfare Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu today highlighted the progress made ever since CIHSR signed MoU with state government, EHA and CMC for a period of 30 years. Replying to MLA C. Apok Jamir in the floor of the House, the minister said the Hospital started its clinical service on October 29, 2007. Most of the building work has been completed as per schedule except for diagnostic block and two wards which are in progress.
The Hospital proposed to start the college of Nursing this year subject to the approval by Indian Nursing Council, the minister said adding that application has been sent for GNM and BSc. courses this year. Diagnostic services namely CT Scan, Ultrasound, X ray, ICU, High Dependency Care Unit have been started, adding the Hospital house departments of medical, surgical, dermatology, pediatric, OG, dental, ENT and community health. Hundred beds have been operationalized with over 200 outpatients daily, the minister said.
The minister said such activities were in line with objectives of CIHSR namely, referral hospital with specialized services, training activities, community outreach activity. On drawbacks, the minister cited lack of senior consultants in Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Psychiatry, Anesthesia. He also said that through the DPR for the medical college has been submitted, central government has not provided funds for the same amounting to approximately Rs. 400 crores.
Azo said efforts are being made to get doctors from other partners hospitals. Reputed doctors from CMC Vellore etc arte also brought from time to time to work at CIHSR. On being asked about the role of the state government in providing monetary and logistic support and to what extend has it fulfilled, the minister said that as per the MoU the state government was to provide Rs. 9.81 crores as its share and also clear the pending liabilities amounting to Rs. 13.66 crore. All these obligations have been met.
The College of Nursing Project amounting to Rs. 16 crores is also totally funded under Special Plan Assistance of the state. Representative of the state government officers such as the Chief Secretary, additional chief secretary and Development Commissioner, Additional Chief Secretary and Finance Commissioner, Commissioner and Secretary (H&FW) and Principal Director (H&FW) are members of the general body as well as the Board of Directors whereby necessary logistic support are also being provided. Further, depending on the need, activities/issues of the Institute are reviewed at various levels of the government, the minister added.
