Mokokchung| October 15 (MexN): Mokokchung District Badminton Association (MDBA) will be organizing the 3rd Mokokchung Interclub Championship from October 18 to 20. In a press conference convened at Badminton stadium Mokokochung, Er.Yanger, Convenor, Organizing committee said that the Interclub championships has become a yearly event in the MDBA calander since 2016.
He said that the game as been gaining popularity in the recent years and that the tournament is organized with a view to promote the sport and also encourage and nurture young talents.
He added that the championships give an opportunity for the local players to mingle with national level players too.
7 teams namely, Longsa Sporting club, Golden Feathers, Chungtia, Native Shuttlers, Mopungchuket, The Shuttlers Chuchuyimpang (A), The Shuttlers Chuchuyimpang (B), Badminton Association Khensa and Soyim Smashers, Ungma will be competing for the prestigious title of Mokokchung District Club Champion. The championships will be played on a best of seven matches format and the categories will be Under 13 Boys Single; Men Doubles; Under 15 Girls Single; Veterans 35+ Men’s Doubles; Under 17 Boys Singles; Vaterans 45+ Men’s Doubles; and Junior Mixed Doubles.
