Of the 38 seats for which voting took place on Monday, BJP will win more than 30 seats, according to BJP leader and incumbent Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh.

Talking to the media after casting his vote, the Chief Minister claimed that people are with the BJP as the party-led coalition government has done an excellent job in its five years tenure.

The Chief Minister cast his vote at his home polling station in Luwangsangbam of Heingang constituency this morning where he is contesting the election. He was accompanied by his wife.

Biren Singh said that in the last election held in 2017, the BJP could not predict the number of seats to be secured. “But, this time, people are with the BJP after observing the performance of the party-led coalition government in the last five years,” he added.

“Now, the people have faith in the BJP,” he said, adding that people are fully satisfied with the government. “Besides, the people realized how much Central leaders of the party including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party chief JP Nadda care about the people of the state and their cooperation in the development of the state,” he said.

“From the response of the people in the election, I can confidently say that BJP will secure an absolute majority this time. People will give their mandate to the BJP,” Biren Singh added.

The first phase of the two-phase polls in Manipur was held in 38 assembly constituencies spread across six districts - Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Churachandpur-Pherzawl, and Kangpokpi - of the state. As many as 173 candidates are in the fray in this phase.
