BJYM Nagaland holds youth convention at Tsuremmen Village

Tsuremmen, November 30 (MExN): The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Nagaland on Saturday conducted the Atmanirbhar Bharat Ankalp Abhiyan Youth Convention and College-Level Vidhansabha Sammelan at Tsuremmen Village under the 30th Alongtaki Assembly Constituency, Mokokchung. The event was held under the broader initiative “Har Ghar Swadeshi, Ghar-Ghar Swadeshi,” with a focus on strengthening youth participation in nation-building and promoting self-reliance, Swadeshi entrepreneurship, and community development.

In the welcome address, Sentimeren Longkumer, President BJYM 30th Alongtaki, outlined the objectives of the Abhiyan, which include mobilizing young people, creating awareness of government schemes, encouraging local enterprise, and preparing the youth for constructive democratic engagement. He stated that such grassroots outreach programmes reflect the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi toward building an empowered and self-reliant India by nurturing the potential of rural youth.

Short speeches were delivered by Shilukaba Longchar, State Secretary BJP Nagaland, and V. Khekato Awomi, President BJYM Nagaland and DMC Councilor. Both highlighted opportunities under Central Government youth and skill development initiatives such as Start-Up India, PMEGP, Digital India, and skill training missions. They urged the participants to make use of these platforms to innovate, build sustainable livelihoods, and contribute to the national economy.

Speaking on the role of young women in driving development, Kashini Kiba, Vice President Mahila Morcha Nagaland, emphasized gender-inclusive progress, financial independence and the importance of Swadeshi products in strengthening local economies. She highlighted government welfare programmes aimed at empowering young women and students.

A Swadeshi Pledge was administered by Opeto S. Swu, Research and Policy, BJYM Nagaland, during which participants affirmed their commitment to promoting indigenous products, supporting local entrepreneurs, reducing dependency on imports, and contributing to the “Vocal for Local” movement.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Kawaljeet Singh, Treasurer BJYM Nagaland.

Chaired by Likao Odyuo, General Secretary BJYM Nagaland, the event began with an invocation by Asenla Imchen, Associate Pastor, Women Ministry, TBC.
