Kohima, February 25 (MExN): The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha Nagaland (BJYM) has strongly criticised the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) for comparing the AI Impact Summit 2026 with the 2010 Commonwealth Games, terming the remarks “misplaced and politically motivated”.
In a statement issued on February 25, the BJYM said the AI Impact Summit 2026 was not merely an event but a defining moment in India’s emergence as a global leader in Artificial Intelligence. It claimed that the summit witnessed participation from 118 countries, over 20 Heads of Government and more than five lakh attendees, reflecting global confidence in India’s technological vision.
The organisation further stated that the event secured infrastructure investment pledges exceeding USD 250 billion and nearly USD 20 billion in deep-tech venture commitments, which it described as a testament to India’s growing stature in the global innovation ecosystem.
Calling the comparison “intellectually dishonest”, BJYM Nagaland alleged that the 2010 Commonwealth Games had faced global criticism over corruption and mismanagement, and said equating it with a technology-driven global summit was factually flawed.
The youth wing also condemned a reported shirtless protest staged on an international platform, terming it irresponsible and inappropriate for a forum focused on global cooperation, innovation and inclusive growth. It said while democracy guarantees the right to protest, it does not justify actions that undermine the dignity of the nation.
Quoting the phrase “Democracy is not about noise, it is about responsibility”, which it said has been used by the Congress party, BJYM urged the opposition leadership to encourage constructive political engagement.
It maintained that national platforms representing India’s progress should rise above partisan politics and emphasised that unity must prevail when the country represents itself on the global stage.
