The body of an unidentified person was found in Dzükou Valley, Nagaland on Friday afternoon, according to the Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO).

Locals spotted the body near the riverbank. SAYO President Zasitsolie Beio confirmed the development in the evening. It was reported that authorities are trekking to the valley to retrieve and identify the body.

Upon receiving the information, SAYO alerted government authorities, including the police, and mobilised its volunteers to trek to the valley tonight itself to retrieve the body.

While official identification is pending, preliminary suspicions suggest the deceased could be a domestic tourist from West Tripura who was reported missing in Dzükou Valley earlier in January.

Earlier, on January 17, SAYO had issued a statement informing its inability to locate the missing person despite an extensive joint search operation and best efforts of all concerned stakeholders.

This is a developing story and more details are awaited.
