‘Bostiwalas’ & our prejudice

Vekhozo Nyenga

Oddly enough, numerous satirical sentences have been said about “Bostiwalas’. I never ascertain the word so much evaluate than a villager but truthfully our judgment has liable them a low- profile, loosening their self esteem and ample of them has drown in inferiority complex. Their inexpressible foreign languages, silliness laughter galore, gossip and their free willingness to spread the rumour, extra ordinary addition on the code of fashion (to me code of fashion simply imply cleanliness and comfortable.) and numerous prejudice against them could be added but every time I see someone getting rid of a villager, I assume myself that its part of me. Due to our special brand of what I don’t find, we are big part of an ill improvement in villagers live. It’s not surprising that majority of the Nagas are villagers. I shall call them “the heart of Nagas.’ Few years back in Chesezu village, children hurried to me in flock, they thought I am plenteous man and got quantities of candies for them. the elders expected I’ll become a noteworthy person and the old aged thought I am already a great man but on the other hand I was about to gave up my studies. Since then it was an eye opening, it remind me how much they think we are progressing to brighten their life. I beg you go and visit your village. Perfection is not simply possible - not for anyone, but they’ll surely appreciate your coming.

The way they projected their daily routine, rising up early in the morning, living by means of sweating and labouring, respect , polite, simplicity, you can’t simply sit their blindly. Not every one can be this big hearted to face the reality of life. They deserve is your consideration, you’d be doing them a favour and they’ll surely educate you the real truth of Nagas life.

Unfortunately because of poverty, we end up supporting who can give us an amount of bug; we hardly know the value of vote and elected one washed-out their rest winning year to safe the money for the next election. Representative, don’t be surprised if you find your constituency lacking behind, who knows what is happening in your bank account. Saving money sound likes a good idea but why public money? Getting something for nothing is just impossible, so be apprehensive, someone will approach you with an aggressive refusal to support you. you’ll be translated from hanging what you thought you are big, smart, better, richer.... come down who is responsible? Aren’t we?

Satisfaction is not a matter of how much you had. Let the truth prevail. It’s much rewarding to think that all people are equal and should be treated as such. Even living in capital town we don’t have enough satisfactory facilities measuring from road to electricity, its pity for villagers, I saw they scarcely read book at night. Omit other general development; particularly even developing a student life is hard for them. Isn’t it a  pity how they present themselves in the class- noting a dictation --- socially- speaking? They may not have the pace to move as you are. So what is your option? You can sit on your hand and wait for them to catch up to you or you can go ahead by yourself or give a helping hand to them. Theirs no time to cast more prejudice against them. They are part of us. Come down. Who is responsible aren’t we?
