Dimapur, August 24 (MExN): The Centre for North East Studies and Policy Research (C-NES) has mourned the passing of Niketu Iralu, describing him as an “extraordinary personality”, distinguished intellectual and a man of exceptional wisdom, insight and compassion.
In a condolence statement, the Managing Trustee, members of the board, staff and the C-NES family said Iralu made significant contributions to Naga society and the wider discourse on the people, history and aspirations of the Northeast.
His understanding, perspectives and commitment to peace, justice and human dignity touched many lives and inspired generations, it said.
C-NES said Iralu's association with the organisation was particularly cherished. As a founding trustee and board member for many years, he provided wisdom, guidance and inspiration to the organisation.
His friendship and steadfast support for Managing Trustee Sanjoy Hazarika were also deeply valued, it said.
“His passing leaves a profound void—not only in the lives of his family and loved ones, but also among the many people, institutions and organisations like ours who had the privilege of knowing and learning from him,” C-NES said.
The organisation conveyed its condolences to Iralu's wife Christine, son Kevipulie, daughter Kelasino and other members of the bereaved family, as well as his relatives, friends, colleagues and the wider Naga community.
C-NES said Iralu's legacy of wisdom, service and humanity would continue to inspire people, while his memory would remain a source of strength and guidance.
